We are a small and dedicated team within The J.J. Ugland Companies, responsible for the operational and commercial management of the heavy lift vessel Uglen and our barge fleet.
We welcome candidates with either academic or hands-on maritime experience and are open to tailoring the role to fit your background. Join us and contribute to meaningful projects in a dynamic, collaborative team.
Main duties and responsibilities
Plan and coordinate marine operations for barge and heavy lift vessel projects
Prepare, review, and implement procedures for lifting, load-out, mooring, and complex barge operations
Oversee subcontractors and advise clients on engineering tasks, ensuring alignment with HSSEQ standards
Represent UC on-site, providing project support and performing fieldwork such as ballast engineering, attending critical meetings, and coordinating between vessel crew and client
Conduct on/off-hire surveys, vessel suitability assessments, and audits while protecting the company’s interests
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal teams
Assist with tendering and commercial processes related to marine scopes
Domestic and international travelling must be expected.
Must-have qualifications and skills
Relevant experience in marine operations or related fields
Familiarity with safety practices in the oil and gas and maritime sectors, and ability to work in line with HSSEQ standards and contribute to ongoing improvements
Fluent in Norwegian and English, both written and spoken
Comfortable in client-facing roles and able to take initiative in the field
Nice-to-have qualifications and skills
Strong practical problem-solving abilities and technical insight
Experience with or motivation to learn tools such as CAD, Optimoor, Python, and loading computers
Exposure to tendering, commercial processes, or project management, including operational risk assessment
Knowledge of or willingness to learn marine regulations, standards, and best practices
Specific job training will be given.

Strong communication skills and confidence in interacting directly with clients
Comfortable working in a small, closely collaborating team
Structured, proactive, and capable of working independently
